  1. "supporting a peace settlement would be more beneficial." For temporary world stability maybe. Neither side is currently willing to negotiate, at least on any terms near satisfactory to the other, and freezing the conflict now would only prolong the issue and kick the can down the road, while proving to the rest of the world that you can still invade and gain territory in 2023 potentially destabilizing the world further, just not right this moment.
