Comments by "SHROOMY" (@shroomyesc) on ""A War of Imperial Aggression": How Russia's Invasion One Year Ago Changed Ukraine & the World" video.
@ranojutro426 Hannah is literally from Ukraine. She has way more of a clue than any westerners cosplaying as leftists.

Tell me, what leads to NATO expansion? What is the reason countries may want to join NATO? There couldn't possibly be any practical threat that would lead ex-USSR countries to join a military alliance, now would there...

@michaelg7520 If you're an American you should probably shut up when all of Eastern Europe is screaming at you about Russia instead of going "But NATO tho"
3
"had to force it's hand" Ever ask yourself why ex-USSR countries would want to join a military alliance? Or do you not own any history books?
3
They've been promoting peace at all costs messaging, pro cheap gas messaging, anti zelenskyy messaging for months now. About time they show another side for once.
2
Democracy Now has spent the past two months constantly hosting pro-Russian guests from various countries crying about expensive gas or NATO, but now that it's one video covering the other side that's unacceptable?
2
Democracy Now has only interviewed pro-Russia people for the past couple months. This video is long overdue to introduce some level of objectiveness rather than just the anti-NATO, anti-Zelenskyy pro-cheap gas side.
2
Democracy now has spent months exclusively hosting people who are either pro-Russia, staunchly anti everything NATO or are crying about expensive gas. But NOW it's an issue when they for once host the other side?
1
This is fixing the lack of dual perspective. Democracy Now has now multiple times in just the last month hosted hawkishly anti-Ukraine people who have spent the majority of their interviews talking about how the west needs cheap Russian gas more than they do an independent Ukraine or they're blaming NATO or they're blasting Zelenskyy. Democracy Now is tilted towards a pro-Russia bias 95% of the time. This is just doing some course correction.
1
@Марина-й2д3з You're right, Democracy Now usually hosts way too many pro-Russian people.
1
@conniekeshet How? Did the west force Russian military to to bomb, loot houses and execute civillians? Or is that not ruining Ukraine.
1
@dctuss21 "Dude, I'm an American" Oh you are? So maybe shut up then when almost all of Eastern Europe bar Serbians is on Ukrainian side and hates Russia for what they did and continue to do to us. We haven't forgotten WW1, WW2, Chechen wars, nor the ongoing occupation of Georgia nor have we forgotten all the times Russia has tried undermining EU and general European unity by backing anti-EU politicians. Countries are still going through efforts of dismantling Russification attempts from the past and you're out there across the Atlantic feeling guilt for being being born in the USA going "But NATO".
1
@HegelsOwl My hatred of what? I'd very much like to know where the hatred is in pointing out that Democracy Now has had a severe pro-Russia slant for the past months.
1
Ask yourself why NATO expands. Why is so much of Eastern Europe in NATO. Can you answer that?
1
Apparently from the comments it's a problem if Democracy Now asks actual Ukrainians and shows pro-Ukraine side for once, but it's A-OK to constantly platform pro-Russian, anti-NATO, pro cheap gas, pro peace at any cost people all the time. That's unbiased! But one video pro-Ukraine side? That's a problem.
1
"Emotional pressure" Yeah maybe there's some emotion in it if she is herself from Russian occupied Ukraine?
1
Democracy Now has spent the past couple months constantly hosting "experts" from foreign countries who are either crying about expensive gas, or blaming the USA, or rallying against Zelenskyy. But now that they FINALLY host some actual Ukrainians, it's bad? So do you just want Democracy Now to become RT or do you want them to be a balanced outlet?
1
@michaelcangey2406 Just ignore the other parts why don't you. The gas issue was some German (westerner, so really has no say like you are too judging by your name) politician crying about how Germany needs cheap russian gas and that's why the war needs to stop. But that's just one of the maaaany anti-Ukraine interviews they've had on DN.
1
@michaelcangey2406 It's not about news diet. Again, judging by your name you're a westerner. Aka you yourself have nothing to lose here. I'm from Eastern Europe and through my work helped countless Ukrainian refugees resettle and thus faced the reality that Russia in the modern day is a threat to any Eastern European state's sovereignty so I'm going to guess I'm a little bit closer to this conflict than you and understand the threat of Russian re-invasion that could happen if they get any level of favourable peace treaty. The sovereignty, life and culture of both my country and those refugees has been threatened with erasure thanks to the Russian state right behind our fence. We here constantly interact with Ukrainians who have had their relatives forcefully resettled under Russian occupation (but let me guess, you think they're just crisis actors?). It's easy for westerners to talk about what news sources they watch as if that matters when they have no skin in the game.
1
@michaelcangey2406 Don't bother, if all you care about is perceived objectivity over everything.
1
"comrades" as if Russia isn't also a capitalist hellscape.
1
What is Russia if not an imperialist power if they consistently throughout recent history use their army to enforce Moscow control over other nations?
1
"End NATO so these senseless, needless, and endless wars never happen again" I hope it'll warm your western heart that there was no wars when Russia steamrolls all of Eastern Europe into a pulp and tries to Russify us again, no peace like Russkiy Mir, right? ☮💕
