To this day, even DECADES later... I play this video at least once every few months. This one and "Beat It". There's just nothing like 'em. And Smooth Criminal is simply legendary. Everything--and I mean everything--was exemplary. The costuming, the mood, lighting, style, performers, props, sets, music(!), Michael's vocal delivery, the choreography... wow. It just blows my mind. NOTHING IN 202x IS THIS GOOD. Nothing. Ain't no "rap video" gonna challenge The King of Pop, Funk, Jazz & Lockin', baby. NO WAY, NO HOW. #AnnieAreYouOK?! #ItWasYourDoom

@madelynscreations9522 The MoonWalk and the nails in the floor (with U-shaped hooks in the shoes) weren't new techniques in terms of their existence, but Michael J perfected them in ways that shattered everything long prior. :) To be clear, people could look up Bill Bailey from 1955 or something akin. Also, films and musicals like "Jelly's Last Jam" have portrayed "pop and funk" style jazz techniques for a long time. But again... MICHAEL WAS THE KING. His videos was on another level. It wasn't simply the dance moves... it was EVERYTHING. Costuming... lighting... mood... music... precision... all of it. "Smooth Criminal" is LUDICROUSLY captivating. The stylistic choices are gorgeous, the choreography is sharp, fast, breathtaking, and beautiful, the costumes OOZE charm and "coolness"... and there's no question whatsoever that EVERY member of Michael's cast on SC was of phenomenal talent and professional training. Just LOOK at his supporting crew of dancers in any singular scene. They're amazing.
