Tensions have not increased between China and Taiwan, they have increased between China and the US. It started with the pivot to Asia in the obama admin, ramped up a lot with Trump, and sustained with Biden. But there's 28 years till 2049. Some predict China's economy to become #1 before 2030, 8 years away. If that trend holds up what will it be in 2040? The real competition to be won or lost is in economic growth. And here the US is also pulling max pressure against companies like Huawei and many other Chinese companies. Will China's economy become like Japan's of the 1980's and stall? The real threat of a major war is with Iran. Every other sentence from Israel is has the word war. The sanctions against Iran are losing their bite. They're at 60%. They don't trust the US to live up to up to economic agreements. They may not withdraw officially from discussions but just stall for time. If there is a war with Iran, there will be huge economic damage. If there is no war, the world will view the US as no longer willing to fight forever wars. Iran would have called its bluff. Can Israel live with a nuclear Iran?
