  1. Yes we're being played. There's an election in Taiwan in 2024. Pres Tsai's party is in deep trouble. 88% of Taiwanese do not believe in declaring independence but that's what her party campaigned on and in nov 2022 local elections her party lost 19 of 22 municipal elections. The NEOCONs might feel that provoking a war before the 2024 election is their best chance. If her party looses, provoking a war becomes much much more difficult. But the constitution of Taiwan says there is 1 china and Taiwan is part of China. So declaring independence requires a change to the constitution. I don't know who or what body has the authority to declare independence for Taiwan. But it's more than just a presidential decree. But Washington knows that the 1st action by China to a declaration of independence is a military blockade. So what's the effect of cutting of chips from Taiwan? But the leaks are laying the ground work to 1) abandon Ukraine (they're losing anyway we're saving lives by throwing them under the bus) 2) pivot to China, at the very least make a few billion bucks selling them weapons. But if China does try a blockade, Taiwan needs to fire the 1st shot to break the blockade, not the US.
