The US wrote the book(s) and invading a country. The US also wrote the book on how to destablize a country and start and support a civil war. The US also wrote the book on how to engineer military coups. And most important the US wrote the book on disinformation to justify to its own people why it's OK to kill 1 million Iraqis because Saddam has WMDs.

One shown on YTube and likely typical of of the war game simulations show the 1st strike is not against Taiwan but against Okinawa and Guam. In many, scenarios Japanese military bases not just American bases in Japan would be hit. To avoid a 1st strike agains Okinawa and Guam, the US maintains strategic ambiguity policy. The NEOCON playbook is to get Taiwan to declare independence to "trigger" an invasion to repeat what's happening in Taiwan, without a 1st strike on Okinawa and Guam. That will not be the case if China does eve invade.
