"borrowed" lol. of course the soviet union couldve eventually come up with an atomic bomb on their own. it probably wouldve taken decades, but they couldve eventually. food for thought. up until 1945 the number of deaths due to wars globally had been steadily rising exponentially with the introduction of ever more destructive weaponry. after 1945 the total dropped to roughly 1 million per year. this is almost certainly due to the introduction of nuclear weapons.

  11. back in the day a friend and i were watching the "solid gold dancers" when an emergency broadcast alert interrupted their gyrations. this was back in the day when an emergency broadcast alert meant something and wasnt just used for bad weather and such. the tensions between the usa and russia were very high at the time so we assumed it was a missile alert! as we were situated between 2 known targets, we knew we were doomed and convinced we only had 30 minutes to live. if i remember correctly it turned out to be when russia shot down the kal airliner.
