  2. robert a heinlein talks about mobile phones long before star trek. he doesnt spend a lot of time on it but describes a protagonist receiving a call then returning the phone to his pocket. this was in the late 1940s or 50s. he also spoke of people connecting to "the net", an obvious internet analog, to do research long before the internet was a reality.
