if you think the flight od fight response is outmoded and obsolete because of "civilized modern society" and "the new civilized man" youre in for a rude awakening sometime in your life. the veneer of civilization is thin and it only takes a short exposure to crisis to expose this. ergo the "mostly peaceful" fiery riots of "the summer of luv2.0". the trick is to learn situational awareness and learn and manage response to better be able to discern benign but anxiety inducing incidents from possible life and death situations.
