  1. orwell was referencing communism. and there is reason why its propaganda and methods are very much like the national SOCIALIST german workers parties germany. both are leftist collectivist authoritarian. one bases its classification by ideology. the other race. the idea that nazism was "far right' is the 1st instance of newspeak. another good book in this vein to read is huxleys "brave new world". its a good illustration of divisive identity politics taken to its logical conclusion.
