he was a living breathing example of the dunning kruger effect. plus i think he subconsciously had a death wish.

what about the effects of the vibrations of being transported by road for over an hour on 5 round trips? the effects of handling while its uninstalled, and reinstalled on the wonder? the effects of being towed on the platform in rought seas for hundreds of miles? there are so many unaccounted for variables in this project, all of which could become s smoking gun for something going terribly wrong. how was the titan ever supposed to be a successful vessel with all these unaccounted for variables stacked against it? the more i hear the more im convinced stockton had an unconscious death wish.

sounds like instead of preparing for the worst and hoping for the best stockton was hoping for the best and praying for a miracle.

i think that the hull had already begun to delaminate with water ingress between the layers when the loud bang was heard. i suspect that was the differential reexpansion as the submersible ascended. i think thats also why parts the the hull fully delaminated yet didnt shatter when the implosion happened. there was already water between the layers at that pressure when the rest of the hull let go. i think the collapse started at the aft as the aft ends of both side rails were stuffed into the aft end dome during the implosion. ie think of the diameter of the aft end suddenly reducing pushing the aft ends of the side rails inward a couple micro seconds before the rest of the hull shattered and the fore end dome was shoved back towards the aft.

and stocktons obsession with this viewport not seeing the obvious fix that took me seconds that supposed "out of the box" but really rigid think he was. he shouldve gone with the safer arched design of course. to counter the visual distortion have a free floating dome shaped insert with flat base thats providing zero structural support. he couldve even had a series of lenses mounted with a rotating bezel to allow focus at any depth-distortion. but stockton was way too convinced of his own greatness to see past when he had convinced himself was right. his ego was a ticking timebomb to removing him from the genepool. unfortunately he took others with him shen he went.

i think deep down, stockton had a death wish (for himself and others) which is why he chose the name "oceangate" (ie water gate, this gate, that gate etc) and named the sub after defeated and banished titans.

no, it was because they literally didnt have enough bolts. they had holes for enough bolts, but stockton commanded they use fewer to speed up the ingress/egress process. shouldve been s huge red flag about his commitment to safety to anyone working for oceangate.

or as i like to say it; the only force so far able to quash stocktons massive ego are the crushing depths of the ocean.

it would be interesting to know if the width of the roof section of the carbon fiber that didnt shatter corresponds to the width of the placement of the lifting eyes. water ingress at the site of the lifting eyes would fit with my theory that the reason why those parts of the carbon fiber didnt shatter be delaminated because there was already water ingress in these areas. and the CG being a bit aft because of the added weight at the stern would fit with my theory that the implosion initiated at the stern of the carbon fiber. one would presume the additional weight would cause more damage to the glue joint at the stern than the bow. the reason i believe the implosion started at the aft of the hull is because both side rail ends, as well as a great deal of carbon fiber debris are stuffed into the aft titanium dome. which to my mind implies that the after end of the hull constricted inward taking the ends of the side rails with it before the forward end collapsed back towards the aft resulting in the rails and debris being stuffed into the aft dome. hearing about the problems caused by the added stress on the C channel cause by adding those lift points only convinces me of this even more. why no one thought of the obvious alternative solution of simply extending the landing legs upward a little and adding lifting eyes to it resulting in an integral cradle i really dont know.

these findings pretty much confirm my theory that the loud bang heard a few dives before the last dive was cause by differential expansion of the different layers an ascent. it also somewhat supports my theory that due to the weakening of the endcap glue there was already water ingress in between the layers at points at the time of failure.
