I did the same thing. It's best to eat fresh when possible and save the long term stuff for when you really need it.

Oil goes rancid after about a year. Still edible and nutritious, but not so good tasting.

Organic and healthy go right out the window when hunger starts. Something a friend told me to take when I went to Russia for gifts was multivitamins as a lot of people were malnourished there...

@bendebeer8607 Yup. I know a few people who were in real famine/starvation situations. I heard stories of people eating grass. I worry about places that wouldn't even have grass if it were not for electricity (for water).

@bendebeer8607 I've never personally experienced it but know many people who have and lived in a place with widespread malnutrition. My big unknown is how people with no experience would react.

400lbs/person per year is a good rule of thumb. It's unlikely food will stop completely, so it's good to supplement to what you can get.

Don't worry. My friend lives in a wealthy neighborhood and they have people who give away fresh organic food there everyday. They have a facebook page and everything. 🤣
