How would a gold standard affect silver particularly as an industrial metal? What would a gsr be and could this be decoupled from natural ratio?

@Paul-H-Wolfram6608 If it were paid back, there would be zero dollars in the system. Every dollar is borrowed from the federal reserve and must eventually be returned, usually via taxation.

I was like 4 years old and would remember the bread prices when my grandmother took me shopping with her. I asked her that if prices just kept going up, wouldn't bread cost $100 someday when the price went from 27c to 29c.

1000 to 1 Dollar Reset would put the value of a penny at $10 equivalent. An average single-family home uses 439 pounds of copper. That's equivalent to 64,000 pennies. Or 640000 equivalent

Air conditioners are more energy efficient than furnaces or boilers. It actually takes less energy to cool down an interior space by one degree than to heat it up by one degree. And most areas, you only need a delta of 11C 20F to cool vs 25C 50F to heat " Each year, more than 100,000 people die from cold in the United States, and 13,000 in Canada — more than 40 cold deaths for every heat death."

Along with the trade deficit. When I was a little kid, this usually lead the nightly news with Walter Cronkite, with the price of gold. I was always trying to get my parents to buy some. I was a greedy little 4 year old.🤣

Read Science, Politics and Gnosticism by Eric Voegelin. He was mainstream academic. It's a short, easy book and does a better of explaining history than any other book that I have read. From the Voegelin Institute: Voegelin dedicated his life to the study of widespread political violence and the devastation that results when totalitarian ideologies that closely resemble religions foster the notion that pursuing the creation of utopias on Earth is achievable and worth any cost, including death.

I borrow 10 bitcoin from you when the price is $4000 for 5 years in exchange for paying you $100/month. I then loan those bitcoin to someone else for $200/month. I keep paying you $1000/month, but I have an income of $2000. At the end of 5 years, I have to give you 10 bitcoin back, and in the meantime, the price has increased to $70000. I have to come up with $700000 to buy 10 bitcoin to give back to you because the guy who borrowed them @$200/month lost them in a bad business venture and went bankrupt.

@ThomasPaineintheArse $70 of that is two day fed-ex delivery, $5 marketing, $5 packaging, $8 profit from all stages. Go to a tack & feed store. The local tsc sells 50lb corn for $15.50. Last January it was $7.99. Amazon is a stupid place to buy bulk grain. $2 to amazon

And 100 tonnes of gold is a 2m cube

@DarrenSmith-zz6fk I was reading yesterday that insurance companies in California are refusing to issue new policies making it impossible to get a mortgage on a new home. I'm guessing that a large property company could buy a blanket coverage for structural damage at a significantly reduced rate. Normal home owners are required to take out a $300k policy for full coverage, even though the structure may only cost $50k to replace.

Be safe!

@psuee5 Optimism is cowardice. We are born in this time and must bravely follow the path to the desired end … Our duty is to hold on to the lost position, without hope, without rescue. To hold on like that Roman soldier whose bones were found in front of a door in Pompeii, who died because they forgot to relieve him when Vesuvius erupted. … This honorable end is the one thing that cannot be taken from Man. -Spengler

Science, Politics and Gnosticism a book by by Eric Voegelin, a German-American philosopher and political scientist, describes the religious impetus and philosophical beliefs behind collectivist movements. This is a good and quick read book if you are interested in these things. Basically, "the political violence and the devastation that results when totalitarian ideologies that closely resemble religions foster the notion that pursuing the creation of utopias on Earth is achievable and worth any cost, including death."

And nuclear. Imagine where we would be today had the technology been funded and allowed to develop over the last 50 years. Jane Fonda will go down as the greatest mass murder in history.
