It's easy when you can borrow (print) money out of thin air, buy some real hard assets and pay it off by selling said assets into an inflated market keeping the difference

What is poverty? Technically, I'm in poverty, but can think of little that I'm lacking. Sure it's always nice to have newer or more expensive things, but I have no debt, a very comfortable life, friends and spend most of my time travelling/camping. I donate the majority of money that I get to others who haven't quite figured it out yet.

It could be done, but takes a lot of effort (it becomes easier as you go). The problem is that it's set up to discourage people from accumulating wealth and perpetuating dependence on the system.

@AcuraLvR82 That problem is easily solved by not caring what other people think of you. I worked for a major international company and one of the tech vp's drove the biggest pos in the parking lot. The driver's side door was a little smashed so he had to use the passenger door to get in and out.We were all engineers and nobody cared

@SaintKines Jobs pay a lot now. My grandfather used to work for $5 a week.

@SaintKines Inflation is artificial. It is controlled by private banks. The more money you have, the lowre your inflation rate. I don't think it was designed to do specifically this, but it'salways the result.

@Sonna I had a small paid off house and it was very tight, but my monthly budget for 5 people was about $1200. I could still buy anything I wanted. I did spend a couple hours a month on the budget and mid term planning as I built up savings and food storage. One of the people was living with me constanly walked to yard sales and we had quite the horde of stuff 😄 With the amount of stuff I've collected over the years and the things I've learned, I think I could comfortably live by myself wthout a car or insurance for under $2000/year (I have no debt and no utility other than internet). That's probably less than peoples cell phone bill (I don't own one).

@SaintKines And why was that? So the people who can borrow large sums of money and pay it off with devalued dollars?

They'll own nothing, but at least they'll be happy little peasants. In a generation or two, if there is such a thing, they won't know the difference. Look at North Korea, it's a happy, well ordered society and they absolutely love their leaders. What could they ask for more?
