@macleanclassics I believe if it hadn't been hyped so hard few people would have even known it was a thing, kinda like H1N1.

I'm betting the Wuhan strain didn't come from Wuhan and was floating around the US for months as a 'mystery pneumonia'. About the time trump tried to ban vaping due to 'mystery vaping deaths'.

I can confirm that the oft stated 'covid killed the flu' idea was true based on the staristics from my county in the US. I forget what the numbers were, but flu deaths were about 100X lower than expected. Instead of a few thousand flu deaths for 2020, there were 12. A lot of people deserve to be fired and prohibited from working in the field ever again. Politicians don't get off either. If they're that incompetent, they shouldn' be running anything

@teahorseguitarstraps1856 Yeah. I think the problem was there were too many incentives to hype the numbers by any means necessary. Almost three years in and I don't know of anyone who died, much less went to the hospital and most of the few dozen I know who contracted it were in the first year, most of whom are in the highest risk groups.
