This allowed for them to emerge millennia later unscathed where they could breed the survivors up top as their food source while they lived in paradice. Believe it or not, but there is a religion that believes in this. This same theme can be seen in many other works, star trek for example, where a utopia civilization is built after a nuclear war. It's a common theme echoed by many scifi tropes.

  2. The global population is plateauing and will start to decline soon. Out next major problem is what to do with the elderly as there won't be enough young people to take care of them. I see tptb pushing some sort of logans run solution. Or maybe t4.
