Everybody belongs to a cult. You cannot see your own cult, but everyone who is not in your cult looks like they are in a cult.

@lesmoore3638 Yes, book clubs are cultish at a very low level, think fan club. They have a central purpose to which people give up part of their lives. Clubs define a social hierarchy. President, secretary, members. Some can be more intrusive into people's lives, but it's all about the degree to which this happens. Check out Hasaan's BITE model, but there are others.
