Wow, this guy is my new hero! I have bs in physics and applied math and Lindzen perfectly summarizes my views, much better than I have ever been ableto explain to people. I've never played around with climate modeling other than college (Lorenz and chaos/bifurcation), but have worked with aerodynamists from NASA and am well aware of the issues Lindzen adresses. Major props to Peterson for at least appearing to understand what the real problems that Lindzen brings up. These are some of the things even people in the field don't quite grasp. Most impressive. 👏

When everyone is racist, then no one is racist. Mission accomplished. The misuse of language induces evil in the soul. Socrates

@piob9801 Marx was originally created as a new religion like scientology

@OkurkaBinLadin The core of the ideology is gnosticism, the quintessential Christian heresy.

"sustainable" is not the real goal, destruction is. When you realize this, everything else makes sense.

Climate change would be good, not a problem. "Taken all together, the greening of the planet over the last two decades represents an increase in leaf area on plants and trees equivalent to the area covered by all the Amazon rainforests. There are now more than two million square miles of extra green leaf area per year, compared to the early 2000s – a 5% increase."

Maynard Keynes was a proponent of eugenics. He served as director of the British Eugenics Society from 1937 to 1944. As late as 1946, shortly before his death, Keynes declared eugenics to be "the most important, significant and, I would add, genuine branch of sociology which exists."

@jqyhlmnp If only we could create a one world government and maybe one world religion, perhaps a cult, to bind us all together like say Theosophy, then maybe these disagreements would go away.. Make it so!

Read about gnostism

Sustainable Energy with the Hot Air by David Mackay, phd, does a great job breaking down all the numbers from a purely physics perspective. It's a great book and very simple, written at about a 5th grade level and is now online in pdf. Definitely worth checking out

AI is not conscious. It is a time series of AND, OR, NOT operations. These are the highest states of consciousness of AI.

Sustainable Energy with the Hot Air by David MacKay, Ph.D. physics, is the best book on energy for the common person. It should be required reading for anyone interested in these subjects. It's full of math, but only at a 5th grade level, and the tradeoffs.

@michaelbabbitt3837 I'm just not interested in climate or pro or anti extiction hysteria. I suspect there are dozens, perhaps thousands of researchers in other fields that I have not heard of. I don't think I could name 6 (pro and anti combined) if I tried.

@@nickshannon7442 I learned on my internship that science doesn't prove anything. It offers evidence for and against a theory.

rogerjamespaul5528 I didn't read, but the major impacts of fossil fuels are being done by China. so did ExxonMobil predict China?

Listing countries by energy consumption per_capita, the US is #11. It's also the third largest country in both size and population.Canada is #9 in percapita energy use and #2 in size. Data from wikipedia

I think it's deeper than that. I think it's religious

That is gnosticism, the snake. You will be as gods

I built an off grid solar powered homestead because I've been interested in solar (and energy) ever since I got a solar cell to play with in the second grade. I studied physics and electrical engineering in college, so I knew the theoretical and wanted to learn the practical side of things. I was involved with a few solar/sustainable web groups untl about 10 years ago where I could offer advice to people who were interested in that sort of thing. Then I made the comment that I was doing it as a learning experienceand to save money, not save the planet at which point i became persona non grata.

I don't believe that you can physically explain cognition, the experience (qualia?) of being conscious. I think it can be simulated to the point of being indistinguishable from a person in every measurable way, but I'm more and more of the belief that true sentience is probably a quantum or quantum mediated phenomenon. The world's most sophisticated supercomputer can be constructed by Legos, but cannot be anymore self aware than a pot of boiling water (which I could argue is more conscious than a digital computer).

Socialism is a religion with an endpoint, the end of history, an eschaton. Economics was a means to that end just as democracy is.

It's a religion. I'm not being metaphoric. There was a medieval vegan religion complete with transgendered god that believed in absolute equality in all things.

This sounds just like Marvin Minsky's _The Society of Mind_. I wonder if you are familiar with this book? Minsky lays out a hundred or so hierarchy patterns for cognitive functions. I would highly recommend it if you have not read it.

Corn, most crops, grow in climate as different as >20C. Northern MI and Southern AZ. No climate change short of an Ice Age will turn one into the other.

Yes. Science, Politics & Gnosticism by The Eric Voegelin lays out the evidence.

They know it won't work, we know it won't work, they know we know it won't work, but they keep pushing it, and we keep going along with it.

I get .... Gallon of gas ~121MJ. Gas pumps 13 gal/minute. 121MJ/(60/13)seconds, 26MJ/s = 26MW (there is no watts/second).

@johanjansson2723 same order of magnitude. There is all kinds of detail that you can go into with different efficiencies. 1J potental energy is not the same the same as 1J realized. The main reason I commented was MW/s popped out atme.
