@jont2576 The richest 10 percent accounted for over half (52 percent) of the emissions added to the atmosphere between 1990 and 2015. The richest one percent were responsible for 15 percent of emissions during this time – more than all the citizens of the EU and more than twice that of the poorest half of humanity (7 percent). The richest one percent of the world’s population are responsible for more than twice as much carbon pollution as the 3.1 billion people who made up the poorest half of humanity during a critical 25-year period of unprecedented emissions growth.

@jont2576 By your definition, that is an imaginary world.

@jont2576 Yes, I understand. But it is an over consumption, not an over population problem. That said, you can have a high quality of life with a fraction of what the developed world currently uses. I've lived with people in extremely rural areas that use almost no external inputs other than food supplementation an a couple of pair of clothes an a few conveniences. I don't want to prevent people from moving to cities and working as assemblers at foxcon so they can buy a car to drive to dinner if that's what they really want out of life, but I think we should be looking at the root of the problem and not a generalizarton of too many people.

@jont2576 Progress toward what? Why does mankind need to progress? We've been around for a couple hundred thousand years
