  7. Not all of them and I think those went away, but I have stayed in Russian apartments and joked with a friend how tiny everything was. The rent was about $16. I think I paid about $300 when I came back for a large house with yard and unlimited food. A friend's son worked in Norway and was able to get food there so I had spaghetti noodles and ketchup for New Year's dinner, I really felt bad for them. Homeless in the US, you had so many more opportunities than in the SU with a good job.

  9. The great thing about visiting Canadia was that it isn't (or at last wasn't the last time I went, ~25 years) another instantiation of California....what the US is becoming. For people who celebrate diversity, they sure do like to make everything the same.
