In studying thermo dynmics, whenever you analyzed a system, you had to explicitly bound the system, declare things like adiabatic, isothermal, constant temperature, constant energy, etc. System would have about 8 boundaries. You can then say absolute things about the system. What you cannot do is say that you correctly bounded the system. There is no such thing as isothermal, that is an idealization for problem simplification that works 99.99% of the time. A spherical horse. The same thing goes for mathematical proofs. Science does not prove things (and never claimed to)(real science, not SCIENCE!™)

@BenTrem42 Pretty much, although I think Newton was about 100 years before thermodynamics ;) You have to explicitly declare the things you ignore. You define a bubble of reality. When your reality does not match truth reality, it helps you identify your incorrect assumptions or measurements.
