  1.  @MaxG-jk8ty  I have a degree in mathematics and worked in engineering for over thirty years and have very rarely used anything that I learned in engineering much less my math classes. I know this varies with the job, but it is a common sentiment shared by coworkers and former classmates. I am very confident that I could have handled my first engineering job straight out of high school and learned anything that I needed from a book as needed. This was before the www. I worked on rocket control if it makes a difference. Everything is now mostly plugging numbers into and tweaking matlab scripts. Most of engineering is grunt work. And if you are not on track for a phd, IMO most of what you learn for a BS is a waste. I do not regret the time spent on learning the things that I have, in fact most are still of personal interest and applicable to my hobbies.

  9.  @veronica_._._._  Millennials would prefer to share their ideas and let the group find the right answer through their combined experiences. Given how far astray critical thinking has often taken us, maybe it’s time to embrace the Millennial Generation’s approach and see if it leads to even better results than the preferred methods of older generations.
