If Maytag wanted to build a washing machine that lasted 50 years (15,000 cycles) it could easily be done, but cost 3 months salary and there are very few people who would buy it, especially the crowd that needs the latest iPhone connectivity through the toaster.

  6.  @sabinereynaudsf  Yeah, I grew up just outside a major city. It was semi rural, I lived next to two dairy farms and a nearby egg farm. There were alfalfa farms everywhere. I could go jogging at night and get covered with insects. My parents still live in the same house, but it's now surrounded by housing development and pavement for at least 10 miles in every direction, no insecticide needed to get rid of bugs.
