This story comes out every time people forget about the last time

@petejung3122 Tesla's idea was about transmission. You still need to have the energy to transmit. It replaces wires, not power plants. It's also extremely inefficient

@ecode136 Yeah, but it does not take that much. I used to have big bottle od the suff in college.

@linanicolia1363 Not really. The asteroid belt is no like out of star wars. It's more like 1 boulder every 100,000 miles

Lithium is abundent on Earth, at least in the quantities required (not much). Lithium is the 25th most abundant element on Earth.

Regenerative Braking has been around since at least the 1930's. It's used on diesel electric locomotives. It's more efficient (cheaper) thn brake shoes. Like compression release engine brake

@Stevon2012 They're used more for the braking effect than energy recovery since the drive motors are electric anyway, it's easy to throw a resistor across the circuit.

@robbyturbo109 Jane Fonda. I got a BS physics nukular

This story shows up ever 5-10 years. I used to work in nuclear and was told that fusion power is 10 years away. And had been for the last 30 years. Or some variant on the joke.

US is energy independent

There's lots of Helium 3 on the Earth

@johnulmer6715 I used to have agiant dewar full of the stuff. We used it in a refrigerant on an experiment. It used to be ~$20/L
