If they cared about any of that stuff, they would go for the low hanging fruit first. Maybe cruise ships. Oh wait, they really don't care about it

The us originally used spanish coins. The dollar was defined as 24.057 grams of silver. The green paper in your wallet are loans from the federal reserve bank, originally at parity with the silver dollar. Originally, you could take a $1 bank note (loan) into a bank and they would give you 24g of silver. The price of gas in terms of silver has remained relatively constant. A pre 1965 silver quarter will still buy about a gallon of gas. All of the green paper is property of the bank and has to be returned. It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning. -Henry Ford

@Akanezulian1 I was in Kenya twenty years ago. You could live, maybe not well, but not hungry for $1/day. I was told that was the rate for basic labor, skilled labor (plumber, carpenter, etc) was $2/day and skilled (eg teacher) was $3/day. People could subsist on $0.10 buying cooked corn (this was in big city).

Extinction level event for the human species. In the name of convenience.

Why such a high fatality rate? I know dozens of people who've had covid, most of them in 2020 and don't even know anyone who went to the hospital, much less died.

Everyone talked about Bechtel in college. Maybe it was just an engineering thing?
6
In the olden days, if you didn't work you would just starve to death. I think that's even in the Bible.
5
At least make them stop
5
Owning nothing makes you happy.
4
Hahha. I thought everyone knew about Bechtel
3
This is how the 'elites' fight each other. Get the people to rise up against their leaders. It's much easier than building armies
3
@l.douglasfisher2097 The latest mutations of the disease are far less deadly than the original. The natural progression for disease is always more infectious and less deadly
3
Woke culture comes from the green movement starting in the 1920's and 30's in central Europe.

@dipf7705 Even the fed admits that fiat money greatly contributes to the wealth gap. The fed is a private entity owned by said elite.

Cold kills much more than heat. A warmer planet is good thing

Less fallout in the Southern hemisphere

What gave the West the advantage? Mali was the wealthiest country on the planet when Europe was poking at mud on the ground
2
And it's back to the middle ages wen it stops

@gordonallen9095 No, Carlin just read the books

And the world

What would you spend that much money on? You can go out in the desert and live very comfortably, still buying everything, with a couple hundred dollars a week.
2
@eddieprasad108 Use energy to gain control of the food. When you can control the food, you can take advantage of that to make people give you control of the money. And when you control the money you can make people do anything that you want, including killing themselves.
2
It's called being self employed and has never been easier in the history of the world

Taxation does not pay for things

That ultimately leads to more conflict

@FriedrichBarb India has more cows than the next three largest cow population countries combined. Will they have to give up their cows?

@glen.simpson Normal human variation?

@h_oom4114 lol. But as a manager once told me: "Prove that it's not doing what you told it. Look, right there you asked it to divide by zero."
2
@jonas petras Not if you study the code and the inputs. Except for hardware bugs, computers always do what you tell them to do. That's not the same as what you intend them to do.
2
@h_oom4114 I think I heard this one also. :)
2
@dipf7705 The point is that the people most responsible for the huge wealth gap are the same ones who are responsible for it.
2
What is your alternative?

I have a friend who lived in their car for a decade investing all of their money and retired in their 30's.

@Skizzy461 Depends on he crop. I grew up in Phoenx, surrounded by maize, carrot, onion, alfalfa, corn dairy and chicken farms (literally a few dozen meters away) and they all flourished and as regularly above 43C for months at a time. It's mosty all housing now, but there are still a few farms close by.
