@Roman_4x5 Capitalism was a description of how money worked with free trade. It's not a prescription of how anything should work, but ow humans instinctively work together.
The Romans had capitalism, businesses, lending, employees, paid for clothing, food and shelter with coin money, farming and trading with India and China. They weren't communist, feudalist, so what else were they? Commerce and trade was a big part of their economy. They paid for entertainment. The average Roman citizen made about $10/day which was enough to barely cover living expenses, but there were Roman millionaires. Rome had taxation on profits.
