  1. I learned to make these in the USA and my spouse here in France likes them sometimes.  I enjoyed Jewish life in the past.  Uprated.

  2. Shades of the Borscht Belt.  It's supposed to be ghastly.  Jewish joke:  Two elderly ladies at a resort in the Catskills were at dinner.  "The food is terrible here."  "And so little of it!"

  3. ALA DASH A lot of people don't get Jewish humor.  They actually know quite a bit of it, but when it's done in the form of high parody, they may have nothing to connect it to.  So it just looks tacky to them, which likely it is supposed to.
