  1. Uprated.  These are so much work.  I remember my maternal grandmother made wonderful things such as this.  When someone takes the time to carefully do all the steps, pay attention and use the best ingredients they can get, you can never forget the experience.

  2. I dunno ... these are bringing back wonderful memories to me of one of my marriages ... and I still use my kosher Jewish cookbook all the time.  My cakes and pastries are not the fancy type but no one seems to complain!  :)

  3. That's the core of Jewish humor.  It's very self-deprecating.  They like to complain a lot, too, but it is with a fondness.

Hey, most people don't get it.  They might go see a Woody Allen movie or something and say it was good, but they totally do not grasp the Jewish humor universe.  Years ago I saw a public TV special in the USA on Jewish humor -- in the eighties, I think.  They had all these famous Jewish comedians talk about the craft and the history, and it was very informative and often poignant.  I end up explaining a lot of stuff to my current spouse here in Europe -- he really likes American stuff and asks a lot of questions.  Sometimes I have a Jewish object or book I can show him to illustrate stuff.  I like the Dani Luv stuff.  It reminds me of some entertainment I saw in the USA which really ... defied description, ha ha ha!!

  6. AE OE So do the Brits.  What they've done with music is scary.  They mimic it and raise the barre!  They make it their own!  It is horrible.

  8. I know, I am in Paris, France and leave this stuff to the professionals, but this sort of thing homemade with care and attention is just wonderful.  :)
