Comments by "Sheridan" (@SheridanM-dc1nk) on "Men being allowed to SELF-IDENTIFY as a FEMALE is 'blatant disrespect and an INSULT’ to women" video.
@mgjohn8534 it mostly affects women and children, and as Julie Bindel is a lifelong feminist- naturally she speaks mostly about the impact on women. The impact on men is negligible, no matter how you view it. Unless you’re a father of a child who thinks they’re trans, this issue doesn’t affect you directly. It affects ALL women, daily.

Men and boys spaces, like what, the boardroom, parliament, your golf clubs? Get over it. This is about women’s safety and privacy, nothing to do with men demanding they get free reign over all important conversations and are allowed to shut women out.

@PhilipOsborne-rz9eu what exactly is wrong with women, being concerned with women’s rights? Must we centre men in everything?
7
She’s talking about private spaces where women need safeguarding, like where they’d be undressing. Not your damn “gentlemen’s clubs”, get over it.
7
@RichardEnglander ”women’s spaces” is commonly understood to mean private spaces like crisis centres, shelters, bathrooms, changing rooms. It’s not her fault you’re not up to speed on the debate or vernacular.
7
It’s not meaningless at all. It’s an affront to the truth, the law, safety, women’s rights, basic language, the family, and society. Let me guess, you’re a bloke?
7
@PhilipOsborne-rz9eu you haven’t a clue what you’re talking about. You really think women saying boardrooms and the like should be open to women, and men in women’s clothes demanding to watch women undress is the same thing?

@rosita3528 does my head in. I don’t even care if men want a men only golf club. The issue was that women were shut out of corridors of power and influence. The fact that men are still whining about “what about men’s spaces!!” Is hilarious and proves our point.

@RichardEnglander ”take your lithium” wow, a 1950s misogynist! That’s a new one. Boring.
5
@sthenogorgonI think Bindel has apologised for most of that, and realised she was wrong. A lot of people call her a hypocrite, but I’d say she’s simply learnt from her mistakes.
5
@RichardEnglander your comment makes absolutely no grammatical sense. It’s illegible.
4
@rosita3528 yup. Proving the exact reason we wanted those spaces to be open to women.
4
@RichardEnglander telling a woman to go and take lithium because she made 3 comments? “I thought you were a bloke”, sure you did pal!
4
@alexedwards6509 you’re right, they’re pathetic handmaids

@sthenogorgonyes she was totally wrong there. I remember the interview where she called them sisters. How she could be so naive to the intentions of these men, especially given her work with female DV/SA survivors, is beyond me

@PhilipOsborne-rz9eu it’s “men this and men that” because it’s men doing it! It’s men claiming to be women and coming into our spaces. But you’re right, it must stop.
1
@RichardEnglander she supports single sex spaces, that’s her entire point. She focuses on women, as it’s women who are being harmed by this. Men whining about this topic make me laugh. You can’t stand women standing just for ourselves, against some men, can you?

@rachelsanders1753 exactly Rachel. Add onto that, it’s middle aged men in skirts and lippy who are very interested in the sexual development of small children. You see a lot of them in the medical field, very gleeful at the thought of halting children’s puberty.

That’s not what it’s about, it’s about single sex spaces like changing rooms and prisons, for women’s safety and privacy. Men’s too! Not workplaces, men’s clubs, men only golf clubs. Get over yourself.
