Comments by "Sheridan" (@SheridanM-dc1nk) on "Working from home is 'morally WRONG' argues Charlie Mullins" video.
How can it be “morally” wrong? How do morals remotely even come into this? It’s working from home not paid days off!
13
It doesn’t promote diversity nor is it “morally wrong”. So both sides are ridiculous. Working from home 2 days a week (like most people do now) is a good thing. We should not live to work nor live at work. It’s about work life balance and having time to yourself occasionally. Nothing wrong with it.
4
Or if you’re just a human being who values having some time to yourself and saving some money on travelling to work every single day. Hybrid is best.

If you’re talking about furlough… yes it was hugely unfair to people in public services etc. However what was the alternative? Businesses shut down and had to get rid of people or simply stop paying them wages. Were hundreds of thousands of people expected to flood into the public service market and get new jobs in a “pandemic”? No. It had to be done.

@demonhalo67 how does my comment affect you at all? It sounds like you want to stop wfh for other because you’re bitter you can’t do it? Also, London centric high roller? I’m on less than 30k, aged 23 and live at home because cost of renting is far too high ANYWHERE.
2
@demonhalo67 also, if you don’t work from home and never have, why are you claiming to know it’s a “jolly over Skype”? Firstly no one uses Skype it’s not 2007. Secondly I wouldn’t tell you that your way of working is a joke and I don’t approve! Seriously, the bitter entitlement of some people.
2
@demonhalo67 so what? Office jobs are necessary too. It’s really, really not my fault that you do a manual job nor is it on me to work 5 days a week on-site because you have to. It costs me close to £30 a day to even get to work. If I can wfh 2 days a week I will, and so gladly.
1
@deformUK-r2x seriously this person sounds like some kind of jealous co.mmunist living in a small village in the back of beyond, upset that people work in offices in London!
1
@demonhalo67 what is some people’s OBSESSION with policing how OTHERS live when it doesn’t affect you at all? If you want said cushy, comfortable office job, get one. If not, stay in your lane.
1
@demonhalo67 you’re the ones who do the work that keeps the country going?! Sure, you’re a part of it, but have you heard of the economy? Would come to a standstill without office jobs. I work in the heart of the city of London. I think you should tell investment bankers who work 20 hours a day that their job is an “easy career”.
1
@demonhalo67 First off, no. Uni grads who go and work for big Four consulting or investment banks are on 30-40k and work those hours. Secondly, I’m on 28k working in London in an office, and I hold these opinions. Lastly, I just don’t get why you’re so upset about it, these people’s lives don’t affect you. You do your job and I’ll do mine. I’m sure what you do is commendable. There is absolutely no point in being so angry that people work swish jobs in the city. They contribute to the economy as much if not more than you do and that’s just how it is.
1
@demonhalo67 can you explain how it affects you that people can “walk around the city looking important with a phone in one hand and a hot coffee in the other”? You don’t pay for them, they have a job and earn. You just sound envious and keen to bring others down to be honest.
1
@demonhalo67 that is just simply not my problem though! I am middle class enough and do fit the office worker bracket, and am university educated. Am I to feel guilt or some kind of shame? You’re laughable really.
1
@demonhalo67 legalised modern slavery? Oh please you don’t know the meaning of the word slavery. You are on SOCIAL MEDIA on an expensive electronic device posting your free thoughts. Get a grip.
1
@demonhalo67 explain what’s selfish about going to work? Should I be giving you a cut of my wages?
1
@demonhalo67 right, so you go on holiday? And yet you’re so envious of people with money? I’m convinced you must be a joke account at this point.
1
@demonhalo67 you can’t even spell. It’s your, not “you’re”. You are envious of me and cannot demonstrate a single reason why office working is wrong apart from the fact you aren’t good enough for it. The fact you think you are the only type of person who is helping the country progress actually shows a STAGGERING amount of arrogance.
1
@demonhalo67 I really feel sorry for you actually. You consider yourself “a grunt”. Do you propose we abolish office jobs and have everyone working down t’mine? 😂
1
@demonhalo67 selfish and entitled because I have an education and a good job? You sound incredibly selfish and entitled for wanting everyone to live the toil and suffering you do. Hilarious , I didn’t realise there were still people out there with your attitude.
1
@demonhalo67 you can afford to go on holiday and I can’t. Who’s the selfish, entitled, pampered one now?
1
@kevinb9830 I quite literally know people who work those hours in consulting and banking
1
@demonhalo67 so what, you are a self professed “grunt” and can still afford holidays!
1
@demonhalo67 I don’t care! I will not be in a position to retire early whatsoever. Not in a million years. How about you just get on with your life and stop pontificating on things you don’t understand.
1
@demonhalo67 “spare a thought for others” my goodness! You do want my pity! I do spare a thought for others and have family who are police and NHS workers. Doesn’t mean I should feel guilt and shame because I don’t work in those sectors.
1
@demonhalo67 yes and I’m not complaining nor attempting to bring others down. Privileged whitecollar jump? Im on less than 30k. Seriously, your envy knows no bounds
1
@demonhalo67 I haven’t complained about a single thing, it is you who has the problem with your betters.
1
@demonhalo67 “as an office worker in London” get back down the mine, mate. Stop talking about matters you haven’t the first clue on.
1
@demonhalo67 what am I lecturing you on exactly? It is YOU who is attempting to lecture me on why I shouldn’t work in an office. I am so glad I’m not you.
1
@demonhalo67 you are a troll, joke account right? I truly can’t believe people like you exist.
1
I don’t think you know what “literally” means. Also, no need for the apostrophe in jobs. It’s plural. I don’t understand how so many adults are illiterate.
1
@infowarrior911 another completely illegible, illiterate comment. Wow.
1
I agree but I think you should be allowed to work from home (within reason, hybrid) regardless of your situation. So long as you are being productive and doing your job, why does it matter? I think it’s one of the very, very few things that was improved by lockdown.
1
@raven-sf3di such a simplistic non argument. Even manual Labour could be taken over by AI and robots in your world. It simply won’t happen. Companies would have zero paying customers if we’re all out of work on a state sanctioned, equal, low, allowance.
1
@demonhalo67 oh I totally, totally agree lockdown was a farce and disgrace. But it happened, and leaving 100s of 1000s of people without an income was not an option.
1
@liam5382 totally agree. AI is fallible and will be quashed before it starts. The main reason being, who will the paying customers be if we’re all out of work and on some kind of equalised government allowance
