  1. That's because there's no experience in news any more. News directors don't want experience, they want kids so they can pay them peanuts and ride their enthusiasm. When they burn out they just get replaced. Hiring kids is a bad strategy because half of them have never watched TV news because they've been brought up on the internet which has very different news values..

  2.  @TheNightFlower  Just remember one thing - and I know this from plenty of experience - any news service, even those back in the good old days, were only as good as their sources. Given how tightly controlled information is these days, that information, much of it very specific, is increasingly scarce. Now someone tell me what a news organisation is supposed to do when you have a huge story and nobody is talking?
