@moshet842 As one who owns a hybrid, I can promise you they don’t ‘suck’.
And my reasons for dismissing hydrogen are perfectly simple. If we are talking about a hydrogen fuel cell, like in the Toyota Mirai, it seems a lot of trouble and inconvenience to go to to achieve the same result: an EV. If we are going to use it in an ICE, the results are worse. This engine, on a standard sized tank pressurised at 10,000 psi, would have a range of 80 kms. In either case, the amount of energy required to produce hydrogen is far greater than what it can output, making it one of the least efficient fuels. It has been estimated that if Germany were to go to electric vehicles, it would need to increase its total power production by 20-25%. Not easy but possible. If it were to go to hydrogen, it would need to increase its power production by 125% to achieve the same result.
