  10.  @Theonlyoneleft1000  Not sure what you mean almost all of them ended in disaster. Of the seven Apollo moon missions all returned and only one didn’t land… Or did you mean something else? Agree on Musk. He has a very gullible audience too. They all think they’re going to be driving around Mars in Teslas in 20 years. Musk doesn’t tell them about the difficult stuff and they don’t know. They also don’t appreciate that most of the spade work has been done by the much-despised NASA, without whom nobody would be going anywhere.

  11.  @Theonlyoneleft1000  Oh, yes, I know about those. They were chronicled in Andrew Chaikin's book "A Man On The Moon". I think the difference between now and then is that there are margins of safety which need to be far greater to be considered acceptable than they were 50-odd years ago. In that respect, I completely agree and this is the reason people don't get why this is so difficult. No space program can afford a fatality now.
