Zh L No facilities- no sports.
10
Zh L Sorry for what. None of the sports facilities in my country are private sector. Never have been. It works for us and we are sport mad here. The only private sector facilities are tennis clubs, golf clubs and yacht clubs. Even then there are public tennis courts and golf courses. The private sector model doesn’t work here. BTW, I don’t want the Olympics either and yes, cost is one reason. Corruption is another.
7
Who is going to build the facilities then?
6
Zh L Who is going to build athletic tracks, football and basketball stadiums, swimming pools, horse racing and motor racing tracks... the list goes on. You don’t need the Olympics but you need facilities if sport is going to survive
6
Zh L They don’t provide. Not in my country anyway. There are no private football stadiums, athletic tracks or horse racing facilities. Our private sector is simply not capable of providing those things and couldn’t do it at a competitive price anyway.

Zh L Australia. We have council-built facilities which operate at a profit. Why should you pay for it? Because you benefit from it, both directly and indirectly.

MsSunhappy If you mean wealthy countries, then yes. If you mean wealthy sectors of society, it depends. Anyone can play football. Not many can play polo.
3
MsSunhappy Yeah, quite possibly. What kind of world does that lead to?

MsSunhappy Whatever

I’ve been wearing the same hat (an Australian Akubra) for at least 13 years. Some days I just don’t even notice it. The difference with Lock and Co is that it fits that way from day 1.

A sound that only an expert can hear… I’m sure there are a lot of them on the internet who will regale us with tales of how special it is… When I was a kid I was forced to learn the clarinet. They say if you can play a clarinet, you can play a saxophone. We each had to buy an instrument and the teacher was selling one which was made by Selmer. The major difference was that the others were made of something like Bakelite, while the Selmer was made of wood. I can’t remember hearing a difference but while the one I ended up with was new, the Selmer was more expensive. I can actually see the value in those instruments, given how much manual labour there is. There’s no question that they are beautifully made and finished. But I suppose, like everything else, there will be a bunch of hard core fanatics who will drive prices up.

It wasn't needed. NASA has investigated other means but doesn't see a need to replace the crawler for a while yet.

They even rated a mention in the movie, “Kingsman: the Secret Service”.

Rolex used to be much more affordable. What happened was that they cut their production and started waiting lists and this pushed both their cost and their market status to a level that isn’t really justified. Meanwhile, their marketing team is flat out pushing the name at prestigious sporting events around the world, such as the recent Middle Sea Race. There are plenty of other worthwhile brands out there that get little recognition but are just as well made and will keep time every bit as well as a a Rolex. They are now spectacularly over-valued and I expect prices will eventually either level off or start to decline. I don’t see it as a market that’s going to last forever.

Hang on, a hat shop that has a head designer… wait a minute..!

I have been wearing the same hat for 15 years and I get a lot of compliments on it.

Good observation.
