Okay, thanks for the update. I knew it had flown but was not aware it was that far advanced. Also, as far as Baikonur was concerned, it was my understanding that the Russians wanted to ease the load and to have more options.

@rbrtck Proton could only be used for supply payloads anyway.

@rbrtck Yeah, I'm aware it has never been man-rated. The Proton has been a bit more reliable than people like to acknowledge, partly due to some highly-publicised failures but there are all sorts of reasons why it will never carry humans, not the least of which is that it's approaching retirement. The combination of UDMH/N₂O₄ is another. While that stuff has been used in the past for launching humans - and in fact, is the combination used in Crew Dragon's escape system - these days it's seen as undesirable. The only reason it hasn't been retired is that the replacement - the Angara family - is not yet ready to step up to the plate. Some of that delay is, I suspect, due to the fact that it won't be launched from Baikonur, like Soyuz. That, by itself, is going to make the Delta V calculations interesting...

@PavelLisov No shit?

@Lunch_box Soyuz has been doing it for nine years as the only means. SpaceX just arrived so, in terms of human transfer, it’s been done only once.
