  2. You are mixing spectra. Night vision amplifies light in the visible spectrum. Thermal cameras examines longer wave spectrum and uses false color to depict what is not in the visible spectrum. Visible spectrum roughly is 400 to 700 nanometers. Thermal spectrum utilized is roughly an order of magnitude greater.

  3.  @JuanSanchez-ik7wx    firstly, you edited your comment AFTER I responded to you. Secondly, you are still not understanding that thermal energy is dissipated by all objects at different rates. As a function of that, land mines will absorb and dissipate that thermal energy at a different rate from the surrounding earth they are in. Thermal cameras (not night vision cameras) exploit this delta to make landmines observable. Sure, you can also see recent explosions. You can also see the landmines. Do you understand?
