  2. True story. I was in Kyoto wandering about by myself. This was pre-internet days, so paper map and an early hand held GPS. All was good, ticking off sights left and right, until the battery died. Holy mackerel, I was lost. Until it dawned on me that (shockingly) I could buy batteries in Japan. It was like the clouds opened up!!
