  1. I cannot imagine why. When doing business in the far east but not in Japan, remember to always mention, in passing, how much you hate the Japanese. The locals will become your instant best friends. They actually do, you just have to say it. When in Japan, I would advise skipping that step. I also did business there. Civilized, polite, law abiding people. A pleasure to deal with.

  2. I think he meant to say, "by land invasion". One can easily point to Okinawa, a prefecture of Japan. The US invaded and conquered that prefecture during WW2. 50K Allied casualties, over 100K Japanese casualties. It was estimated, at the time by Allied military leadership, that to conquer the Japanese mainland would incur over 2 million US casualties. I'll repeat, so it cannot be considered a typo. Two million US casualties. There was no corresponding estimate of Japanese casualties at the time.
