The Ratnik was developed by a private company in Russia. I don't think that was ever mentioned in this video. It wasn't made by the military directly. Also there is a new generation of suits by the company Rostec who made these suits. According to reports these current Ratnik suits are made to withstand 7.62mm rounds but the ones they're working on called Sotnik are said to be able to withstand .50 cal shots. These Ratnik suits have also been in use since 2018 so they're not brand new either. This video is somewhat misleading since it's not giving accurate information on how the Russian army is equipped. When it says "some soldiers" it's talking about reserves not serving frontliners. There was armor designs used between those periods. Some of what they're showing as well aren't modern Ratnik gear. There are images of older armor mixed in there. Not sure if they made it clear those are older designs not the current Ratnik designs. They are kinda jumping around between generations of gear. Apologies if this comment is too long. I felt it important to mention this since I study military tech quite a lot.

Yea but unfortunately Russia doesn't often let outsiders have access to their most modern weapons and armor so it would have to be on outdated gear.
11
You know that Russia is at war with US backed forces in Syria and Ukraine right? And that they're winning?
7
They had armor before the Ratnik that was made by the same company(Rostec) that made the Ratnik and Ratnik has been in use since 2018.
7
Yep the Russian military already purchased tens of thousands of the Ratnik-3 and plan to buy hundred thousands more.
7
@AlexsEquipmentCorner This isn't the 80s. It's 2022 grandpa.
7
I've seen some of his videos and they are cool but a lot of what he's showing in his videos is older tech not modern ones.
6
Yeah except most of the gear shown here is outdated equipment that largely isn't used anymore lol.
2
No these are old designs. The Ratnik-3 is the new exosuit and much different from this.
2
This video is misleading in that way. They had generations of gear between what they're showing and some of this stuff isn't even modern Ratnik gear.
2
What they show in this video is mostly Ratnik original designs that are outdated now. Ratnik-3 is the modern armor and it's nothing like what they showed in this video. Also the Sotnik fourth generation which is the upgrade to Ratnik-3 is coming out around 2025.

Black actually stands out in the dark because nothing is actually pure black but rather dark shades of grey which is why grey or dark colors like dark blue fade best in the dark.

Military grade stuff is labelled such because it's tougher than regular versions of that thing. For example a military grade assault rifle and ordinary assault rifle aren't going to be of the same efficiency. There are of course different toughness between military grade equipment too.

@ari_a2764 None of this gear is Ratnik-3 so go ahead try to contest me on this.
1
@ari_a2764 Lmao yes it is. It's not fully implemented to every soldier yet but they have tens of thousands purchased and are planning to buy hundreds of thousands to outfit every soldier with it by 2025. They also have a new design coming out called Sotnik. I don't know if you just have cold war mentality implanted in your brain but the Russian army is very advanced these days and are overtaking the US on technology.
1
@ari_a2764 You don't keep up to date with military tech. Russia straight up announced their entire infantry force would be getting the Ratnik-3 new design and its being implemented. They have a cruise missile that's faster than radar, Zircon. They have a gliding device that is capable of guiding ICBMs, Avangard. They have 100 T-14s that are being deployed in 2022. They are also working on an AI controlled plane that doesn't require a controller or operator to function. America utterly failed in Afghanistan and are still failing in Iraq so it amazes me you are bringing that up as some kind of evidence that the US is advanced. America can't even win wars against much smaller countries. They have a large army but their communications is so bad they end up confused and not organized.
1
@ari_a2764 Have fun with your brainwashed pro-US propaganda brain. Yes America is still in Iraq. Wow the fact you don't even know that is hilarious.
1
@ari_a2764 You're delusional and don't have a clue what happened in Iraq or Afghanistan.
1
@ari_a2764 ...The Taliban currently control Afghanistan. That means they won. America retreated. Their Afghan allies deserted or surrendered. It was a loss. Your pro-US brain probably breaks trying to comprehend that. I have reports from the ground in Iraq and previously from Afghanistan too. The communications was a mess. Soldiers didn't even know what they were there for and those who blew the whistle on the war crimes got court martialed. Julian Assange is being persecuted for exposing American war crimes and the fraud of American wars. Wake up to reality.
1
@ari_a2764 The entire war policy of the US is to use bombing and drone strikes in excess. What in Freyja's name are you talking about? The wars of the US are not over. They're in many countries fighting wars and that's not even including their shadow wars in Africa and South America. Tell me how many civilians the US has killed. I'll give you a hint it's in the millions. I bet you don't even know a single civilians name who died because of America's wars.
1
@disadadi8958 I could dig up the past of any country to find war crimes and bad ethics. I'm talking about the here and now. The wars Russia are currently in is perpetrated by the US and their suppression of allowing other countries to have freedom. Ukraine and Syria were caused by the US trying to establish and maintain tyrannical puppet governments.
1
Hey someone else who identified that the gear shown wasn't modern equipment. :)
1
@jonahsmith2708 Lmao. Fake? You're out of your gord.
1
@AlexsEquipmentCorner I was somewhat believing you up until you said Russia is poor. Russia is in the top richest countries on the planet my dude.
1
@AlexsEquipmentCorner Yeah I can tell your take is from the 1990s. The Russian military is one of the strongest in the world. Syria is a perfect example of Russia's modern military forcing the US to retreat. Soon as Russia rolled into Syria with barely a fraction of their forces and set up a defensive grid the US backed coup came to a complete halt. You must not follow many Russian military conventions if you're unaware of how advanced the modern Russian army is. In many ways they have tech surpassing the US. A prime example is the exoskeleton armor and their newest hypersonic guided missles. If you haven't yet seen their artillery capabilities or ECWs I recommend looking into that as well. Russia is 11th total GDP in the world and 4th largest military budget. The only ones above them in military budget are India China and the US. Keeping in mind Russia spends most of its money on R&D and uses the gold standard not the petrodollar so they can more efficiently buy things. Including reserves they are the 2nd or 3rd largest army in the world mainly behind China. So no they are not "poor" or "outdated".
1
@AlexsEquipmentCorner Cute calling me a propagandist when you don't even know the basics about Russia.
1
@AlexsEquipmentCorner "You're brain is wired wrong." Congrats you played yourself.
1
Yeah it is very old. These are the early Ratnik designs the modern one is Ratnik-3. It's much much different from these.
1
The modern Ratnik-3 is already an exoskeleton being used by the modern forces of the Russian army. The stuff in this video is outdated gear and they're working on another Sotnik design that's an even larger leap from the Ratnik-3.
1
It's not just for close combat it's meant as a tool too.
1
The standard US gear is pretty crap comparatively so probably not. They don't value much effort in anything that's not big and beefy. They mainly focus on ranged tech such as airstrikes, drones, and naval bombardment. The Marines get better gear but even that is far from the best.
1
You missed out then the Ratnik came out in 2018. The military has done massive reforming since that time.
1
Just get another White Death and you're good to go. One that can snipe missles.
1
These aren't from 2021 these are old designs. The Ratnik-3 looks nothing like these.
1
Why were you using a Russian uniform if you're Finnish?
