I've noticed that our news media try to at least pretend not to be openly biased when it comes to British political issues, but with American stories they think they're allowed to just say what they really want without any pretense of impartiality.

The simple facts of the case show self defence, he was found not guilty based on those facts, Channel 4 are supposed to objectively cover the news, their opinions about "those horrid Americans and their guns" are irrelevant. So no, they do not get to lie about and distort the facts of the case because of their views on guns. And school shootings are so rare that they are statistically 0.00000000001% of shootings, let alone murders. Only hysterical leftists use emotional manipulation like that to make national level policy that affect hundreds of millions of people. Plenty of the most heavily armed US states have the lowest rates of crime and murder, while those with the heaviest gun control have some of the highest. Home swiming pools kill a hundred times more kids each year, while having no utility outside of recreation (unlike guns, which serve for providing self defence, discouraging crime, pest control, recreation etc). Weirdly today's leftists have no interest in banning them, so the reason for calling for bans on guns is about disarming their political opponents, nothing more.
