Yep, vast majority of people don't know that our monetary system is literally based on debt, money is not "printed" in the way most people think, commercial banks have been literally been given the power to create money out of nothing. They don't loan out depositors' money, they just create new money out of thin air. With the only constraint being that they avoid an actual bank run by having enough deposits on hand to cover withdrawals.

TBF most people are a) incredibly ignorant, and b) not very interested in "politics" as an abstract idea. For example the polls saying "the majority want to rejoin the EU" - if you laid out the actual facts about what rejoining the EU would entail, they would shift dramatically. They don't hate this country, they're just very poorly informed and manipulated by the mainstream media.

I think it really needs to focus in on the working class vote. The ideal thing would be a maerger with the SDP to balance out the Thatcherite stuff from Farage and Tice, which is never going to win over most of the patriotic working classes.

You have to understand that people like this (like most leftists) are universalists, they simply don't care any more about British people than they do foreigners.

The funny thing is that if you actually wanted to help the people of these countries (not their corrupt governments), these best way to do so would be via a British sovereign wealth fund that invested in OWNING productive businesses in poorer countries. That way you provide jobs and economic development in the places you invest, BUT we the British taxpayers retain the value of that investment and grow our national wealth, and also continuing leverage (if you invest 15 billion pounds a year, after ten years you own 150 billion pounds of assets in a country, and have continuing ongoing power there, whereas if you give away 15 billion pounds a year, after twn years you have nothing, and have to keep giving the money every year to retain any influence.

And the worst thing is, this aid isn't really even aid, it's being paid to buy off the leadership of countries to support Western corporate and military industrial interests, so taxpayers are basically financing corruption at a global scale, corruption that often actually STOPS economic development in poorer countries, not helps it. If, as the pro aid guest says, it's about "British influence", this would be far better done through investment via a sovereign wealth fund, where we retain influence via ownership of businesses in these countries, rather than needing to continually pay more and more or we instantly lose influence.

Yeah you didn't say "all rich people", he said globalist, "anywhere" elites. Trump has always been America first, he has always put his country first, you can watch interviews with him 40 years ago advocating for tariffs to protect American industry.
