  1. Here in the UK most traditional private schools have cadet forces which involve military training, weapons handling, unit tactics etc. No one calls it "militaristic" or presents it as somehow immoral.

  4. I wouldn' say poorest classes, it's more about flyover states. Remember all the officers are college educated and rend to be upper middle class or upper class, just from red states in the middle of the country. Coastal elites are the ones with no interaction with the military.
