  1. I think what we're overlooking are smaller scale "continental" games (ie. Pan American Games) and regional events (SEA Games). They also happen for specific sport branches (ie. for soccer, the worldwide is World Cup, regional/continental Copa America). Then there are paralympic events. Combined, you have to hold a lot of them in a year, and almost one will be present in any year. I think with these extra events considered, it's more than enough to keep a few "olympic cities" alive in each continent.
