@Seth9809 Re: Hereditary does not mean genetic. Yes, it does mean it. In this context, at least. And yes, many health problems have a genetic component to them. Like alcoholism, just for an easy example. Most of what makes you you, is encoded in every cell of your organism. That can't be changed, so denial is understandable.

We know those things due to many repeated observations of patients with brain damage. (Also experiments on mammals, to a lesser degree.) Psychological experiments can't be reliably repeated. Look up replication crisis. Psychiatry is arguably even worse. Both fields of knowledge fit much better to a pre-scientific model, like alchemy or astrology, than to sciences, like physics or chemistry. I mean, seriously. People still teach Freud in psychology. It's like having lectures on fortune telling based on solar eclipses being taught in astronomy classes. Yes, at some point many people used to think that way. Nobody cares any more, because we have better tools now. They obviously do not have better tools.
