@TrueBren "they compare the destruction to WW1-WW2 levels." Actually, it was worse. In WW2 Poland has suffered the worst casualties percentage wise, with about 20% of the population dead. The losses during the Deluge were on the order of 30%.

@g.sergiusfidenas6650 "magnates like Lubormirski could not think in anything other than their own self-aggrandizement" Lubomirski was clearly wronged by the king, therefore he had full rights for an armed rebellion. Those were the rules of the Commonwealth. The nobles and large portions of the army supported him. You can blame Lubomirski, but why not Jan Kazimierz? It was all his fault, after all. If he didn't try to wrongly accuse and execute Lubomirski, nothing bad would have happened. But then, he had no chances of establishing dynastic rule in the Commonwealth...
