+Blah b - I don't know much about Stasi, but the Stalinist regime in Poland surely used torture. They weren't as bad as Gestapo, but mostly because they had time. They could wait. Sooner or later everyone they wanted to be broken, was broken. There were a few exceptions, but then Gestapo wasn't always successful either. BTW - How do you know if Stasi didn't use extreme physical torture? For example, I can name a few typical means of torture only because people who survived them without breaking were brave enough to talk about it. Those who were broken didn't talk about it. For the rest of their lives.
