That's how they frame it, but it obviously is not what they provide, or want. The people which get hired based on how loud they cry foul are precisely the ones you do not want in an efficient team.

They are marching through all the institutions. FOSS is just collateral damage to them.

@dfcx1 I'm wondering how far your analogy can be stretched. Can we defeat them with some antiseptic strategy of our own? Vaccination, maybe? Or do we need to get good at what they are doing? An honest question. I just don't know. Though I do suspect that without adopting at least some of their strategies we might have no chances. So I wouldn't disdain their approach too much, since we might be forced to make peace with it.

@kpcraftster6580 My posts get deleted all the time too, so I know where you are coming from, brother. Funny thing: I got interested in Shakespeare and his sonets in recent years. He wrote them so weirdly, in hopes it will somehow sneak through the censorship. It didn't work. They confiscated the whole edition, apart from very few exceptions. Yet, he won and they lost. The whole situation was quite similar to what we experience. A brand new info tech, which allowed for unparalleled exchange of thoughts. The same dynamics of states using them for their own goals, before the rest of the population have learned how to do it. Yet, we won and they lost.

The rest of the society is just collateral damage?

Well, they are winning, so maybe they do have some skills after all?

@anon_y_mousse The printing press did the same thing to us. It also lead us down a very dark path. It resulted in absolutist monarchies and religious wars, even in large scale witch hunts, but it also resulted in mass literacy, science and industrial revolution. The absolutist monarchies with their police states were eventually all stripped from power. Because people could read. BTW - do you think things got so much worse recently, or we became more aware of what's going on?
