@piotrmalewski8178 " the West stole the saber from Poland and Hungary, which in turn stole it from Turks and Tatars " The oldest known sabers came from Hungary. That's from before Tatars or Turks. There were many horselords of the steppe, starting with the original Indoeuropeans. I mean, saber is quite likely an European weapon.

@shibasaurus322 " there is such a thing as a Western Saber " That's correct. There were many cutting sword designs, which were native to Western Europe. For example, the word cutlass comes from a Latin word for a plowshare (cutilum, or something). There were falchions and messers too. And regarding specifically cavalry sabers, they did develop their own style, which for all practical purposes is a version of earlier backswords.
