@train_blabber They don't build a second storey because two storey houses are forbidden by zoning laws or HOAs. It would reek too much of socialism I guess.

@ardentenquirer8573 Putting aside that Wealth of Nations is neither what you seem to think nor as correct as you seem to think; this is not a problem of governments - governments all over the world get better results. Means there must be a different reason.

@ardentenquirer8573 You think I'm gonna discuss a 1000 page book in a youtube comment? ;) Just google "where Adam Smith was wrong" as a start I would say. He got a lot wrong, including his basic assumptions. That doesn't mean he was bad, it is unavoidable for such a work. (There are a few things that he should have known better, but nobody is totally objective.)

@ardentenquirer8573 Not at all because poeple don't act out of rational self interest 95%+ of the time. (Which is why economics has plastered on so many additional (often contradicting) theories that it is basically back to "we don't know") I have never met a single homo economicus in my whole life. And even his famous wool example for devision of labor was a) "stolen" from someone else (not important but funny) und b) wrong, in the sense that this observation was not based on a Free Market, and as such not applicable as an example (of proof) of it. But Smith is also misinterpreted a lot by the Free Market fans. He was decidedly not one after all (if you take modern (neo)liberals).
