And now imagine: THE FUTURE! Humanity around 2000 did nothing to fight the climate catastrophe. Temperatures in India are going through the roof. 2 billion people are packing up their sparse, dried out belongings and start moving to Northern Europe and Russia. I can never understand why the people who scream about "illegal immigrants" aren't the ones most frantic about fighting climate change. Quite contrary they often hate fighting it. I wonder if the Delhi planners are thinking about that.

@death_parade Thank you for your long, detailed reply. Unfortunately it totally misses the point I made. Except half way point 4, which is what I was talking about: If we (as all humanity) don't stop climate change, most of Indians will have to go somewhere else or die. In no point at all was I talking about if India does enough or not on a country level to stop climate change.

And don't forget Chongqing 32 million people on even more km² than Delhi. There is just no international definition of an city area, so the numbers for the same place can be all over the board depending who you ask.

Why not? Is there a reason why people in a poor country should be less likely to go for the one place they think life will be better, compared to a country where there are other good places in reality?
